Our Screenly Players support the following wireless networks and authentication types.
Networks
- Raspberry Pi 3B - Supports 2.4 GHz frequency range.
- Raspberry Pi 3B+ - Supports dual-band 2.4/5GHz frequency range.
- Raspberry Pi 4/4B - Supports dual-band 2.4/5GHz frequency range.
- Raspberry Pi 5 - Supports dual-band 2.4/5GHz frequency range.
Authentication
Our players support the following authentication types:
- WPA / WPA2-PSK (Personal) - Standard password-based wireless authentication.
- WPA2-Enterprise / 802.1X (PEAP) - 802.1X PEAP authentication for both Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet connections, including static IP configurations. Setup is done directly through the on-screen wizard on the player.
Note: The current 802.1X implementation supports only PEAP (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol).
Network Configuration Tips
- We recommend disabling band steering on your managed access point, as it can cause connectivity issues with Screenly players.
- Avoid using a single SSID that operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously. Instead, create a dedicated SSID for your Screenly players that operates exclusively on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
