We have received a few questions about whether or not users can load assets directly to their Raspberry Pi devices. Unfortunately, this is not possible at this time. However, since we cache all cacheable assets (images and videos) on the device, each asset will only be downloaded once.
There are a few reasons users cannot load assets directly to their Raspberry Pi devices, however, the primary reason is that we would not be able to validate the assets if they were loaded directly onto the Raspberry Pi.
When you upload an asset to Screenly, we do a number of technical checks on the asset. If needed, we will also re-encode the asset to optimize it for the Raspberry Pi.
