Users who wish to self-build a digital signage player must purchase a memory card. Below, we detail the type of memory card that is most reliable for digital signage deployments. Note that if you want a digital signage player that is ready-to-go with all necessary components, you can purchase a pre-built Screenly Player at the link here.
For self-build digital signage players, we recommend that users purchase an Application Class 2 (A2) microSD card that has at least 16 GB of storage. You can purchase an A2 microSD card on Amazon at the link here.
A2 microSD cards are more expensive than A1 memory cards. However, this extra cost is worth the investment for your digital signage deployment. A2 memory cards have higher performance than A1 cards by using advanced command queuing and cache functionality. These features help ensure that your memory cards and digital signs are reliable in the field. Increased reliability means less maintenance hours and less hours of screen downtime.
If you purchase a pre-built Screenly Player, please note that all Screenly Players come with a microSD card that is of A2 quality or better.
