This error indicates an issue reaching our Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. Common scenarios that can cause this error include the following:
- The NTP port (123) is blocked on your firewall.
- The NTP resource (URL) is blocked on your firewall.
- An error with your manual NTP configuration file (YAML).
- A routing issue reaching the NTP server on your network.
NTP is required to ensure all of our services, and your content, is synchronized to operate at the time needed. By default, your Screenly Player uses ntp.ubuntu.com as the NTP server, as mentioned in our network requirements. You'll want to ensure this is whitelisted or otherwise allowed access for your player to function properly. If you'd like to use a custom NTP server, this can be configured by using the WiFi & Advanced Network Setup wizard outlined on option 2 here.
